Engaging the Diaspora to Support Development in Chad – Priorities: Health and Education Sectors
N’Djamena – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Chad organized a workshop on 12–14 March to engage the Chadian diaspora of France and Niger to contribute to the development of health and education, in collaboration with the Government of Chad.
The objective of this workshop was to provide a framework for brainstorming on mechanisms to leverage the skills and resources of the Chadian diaspora as development drivers. Some 30 people from the diaspora, UN agencies, non-governmental and governmental organizations identified an appropriate method for collecting data from health facilities in N’Djamena and discuss the development of a diaspora mapping.
“The ceremony that brings us together today announces the commitment of the country’s high authorities to make the diaspora a real tool for Chad’s development,” said the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This workshop was organized as part of the project “Promoting the Engagement of the Chadian Diaspora to Support the Development of Chad” funded by the IOM Development Fund.
